I don't know which server he's using, but I know that INN, cnews+nntp-ref,
and ANU news all provide a message-id. I don't have rfc1036 here
at home, so I can't check if it's required to be in the post already.

The only vms server I know of is ANU News.

WinVN contains code to generate message id's, but it's commented
out. Many sites have so many pc's that most of them are not registered
in the DNS. You need an FQDN to generate a valid message-id.
Probably the correct thing to do is generate one if it can, and leave
it out otherwise.
This is the only complaint I've seen on this issue, though.

You have to download the whole MS VxD Beta (Daytona) from microsoft.com in
order to get the telnet client.
ftp.microsoft.com /peropsys/wfw/tcpip/vxdbeta/mstcpb2.exe
Run the self extracting file and the telnet client should be in there.
Hope it helps!

Might I ask the main reasons you prefer WinVN. I was just about to set up
Trumpet and am wondering if I should take a look at WinVN as well ?

Subject: Q: SLIP/PPP for Winsock/NT
Looked at FTP.MICROSOFT.COM for a SLIP or PPP driver for Win NT's TCP/IP
Winsock. There is none.
Does anyone know where to find such a driver?
